Farha Foundation Sets the Bar High with New Goal

Strives to reach $10 million in distributed funds with the support of the community

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 12, 2014) - The Farha Foundation Quebec's leading HIV/AIDS fundraising organization, has set a new goal to reach $10 million in distributed funds with a series of campaigns leading up to its 16th and final edition of this amazing gala event MASKARADE appropriately themed 10M. In support of the HIV/AIDS community and to raise funds in order to reach this goal, the Farha Foundation is hosting a number of events over the summer and leading up to MASKARADE 10M, and is reaching out to the community for their much needed support.

"We've set a lofty fundraising challenge, with the goal of reaching $10 million in distributed funds and driving community awareness of the disease," said Linda Farha, volunteer president and spokesperson, Farha Foundation. "The coming months will be filled with activities designed to get people excited and involved in promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and education. There is still no cure for AIDS, and it is with these initiatives that we hope to convey the message of prevention and raise funds in support of over 20,000 Quebecers living with the disease."

The Farha Foundation started out this new challenge on a playful note with the #StickOutYourTongue campaign, a social media initiative which began on July 19, 2014, 'International Stick Out Your Tongue Day'. It was created to mobilize selfie lovers and younger generations to help end discrimination around HIV/AIDS and encourage the use of condoms by taking photos of themselves and using the hashtag #StickOutYourTongue. For a second chance to win, contestants were asked to register for ÇA MARCHE, the Foundation's annual walk. The winner was announced on August 8, 2014 and received a camera valued at $530, generously donated by Active International.

Following this initiative, the Farha Foundation will be partnering with Holt Renfrew to host the second edition of FARHA En Vogue Chez Holt. This night of cocktails, high fashion and philanthropy with Canada's leading luxury shopping retailer will take place on September 9, 2014, starting at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will have the chance to win a number of special prizes valued at $1,000.

On September 27, 2014, the Farha Foundation will once again host the 22nd edition of its largest fundraising event, ÇA MARCHE, a walk that aims to end discrimination and bring the community together. This 7 km walk through the streets of downtown Montreal will take place on Saturday morning for the first time ever!

To commemorate World AIDS Day on December 1, 2014, the Foundation will reach out to the community, and to people worldwide, to unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS and take a few moments out of their day to remember the people who we have lost.

Bookending these activities, the Farha Foundation will celebrate with its guests and celebrities at MASKARADE 10M on February 19, 2015, and will recognize those that have helped build the Foundation since 1992. This final annual gala will serve to mark a next phase in the Foundation's journey.

Please follow the Farha Foundation and our activities over the next several months this year at our special events all in support of a world free from HIV/AIDS as our founder Ron Farha originally dreamt.
