Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Accepts Webby and Webby People's Voice Awards at 15th Annual Webby Awards Ceremony in New York

"The Time to Eliminate Pediatric AIDS Is Now" Advocacy Video Takes Two Top Honors in Public Service and Activism Category Against Record Number of Entries

June 14, 2011 - Washington, D.C. - The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation accepted two Webby Awards yesterday for its advocacy video, "The Time to Eliminate Pediatric AIDS Is Now," at the 15th Annual Webby Awards ceremony in New York City. The video was named the Best Online Video in the Public Service and Activism category, and also took top honors in the same category for The People's Voice Awards, which is decided by the voting public.

The video was a joint production between Foundation staff and Long Story Short.Jessica Stuart Media, Inc.

"We are thrilled and humbled that a panel of judges and the voting public selected our video as the winner in this important category," said Philip O'Brien, Executive Vice President of Communications, Advocacy, and Development for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. "Our video tells an inspiring story of one mother trying to save her children from dying of AIDS, and the positive impact that her passion and activism continue to have around the world. We are now at a time where we can eliminate pediatric AIDS globally, and it is our hope that this video inspires others to join our cause."

Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, the Webby Awards are the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including websites, interactive advertising and media, online film and video, and mobile and apps.

The Webby Awards were presented on Monday, June 13, at a star-studded, live online broadcast from New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). IADAS is a 750-person judging academy whose members include Martha Stewart, Darren Aronofsky, R/GA's Chief Bob Greenberg, David Bowie, Arianna Huffington, and Twitter's Biz Stone, among other media luminaries.

"The Webby Awards honors the very best of the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. "The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation's achievement is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators."

The 15th Annual Webby Awards received nearly 10,000 submissions from all 50 U.S. states and more than 60 countries around the world. The Foundation's video was one of five finalists in its category and was selected by a panel of judges, all IADAS members.
