Patient Voices Network: Orientation
February 2012 - Patient Voices Network will be hosting an orientation for individuals living in the Vancouver Lower Mainland
with a focus on the communities of Vancouver, Richmond, New Westminster, Delta, Burnaby, the Tri Cities, and the North Shore.
Volunteers who join the Network will be invited to participate in a variety of opportunities to share their experiences
and contribute ideas for improving health care in BC.
We are all patients. We all access the health care system at some point, and we have friends and family who access it as well. It is important for patients to participate in decision-making so that BC's health care reflects the needs and priorities of those it serves - the patients.
As part of the Patient Voices Network you will join over 1000 patients, family members and caregivers who are applying their experiences toward positive change to the health care system.
Upcoming Orientation: Saturday, February 18th, 9am - 4pm Richmond location (easily accessible by public transit)
Aims of the Orientation Session:
- To introduce participants to the overall aims and objectives of Patient Voices Network and how the initiative supports Patients
as Partners, Ministry of Health
- To give participants a better idea of how they might participate in transforming the health care system in BC
- To provide participants with an opportunity to meet others who share their commitment
- To provide information on Vancouver Coastal Health's Community Engagement Advisory Network (CEAN), as well as on engagement opportunities in other health authorities
