AIDS Vancouver
Positive Change Red Ribbon Campaign launched:
Bradford McIntyre's Statement

Mayor Robertson and City Councillors.

I am honoured to accept this proclamation on behalf of AIDS Vancouver and to thank you for your ongoing support..

There was a time, not that long ago, when persons living with HIV and AIDS would not be recognized in such a positive way. I am happy to wiitness how things have changes over the years and the significant accomplishments achieved. However, this important work must continue.

Our month long campaign and our year round activities have three themes:

PREVENT | ACT | SUPPORT.

Thank you for officially proclaiming November as RED RIBBON MONTH throughout the city of Vancouver. The stigma that surrounds HIV and AIDS in our community persisits. It prevails, when our diligence wanes. We must continue to ACT.

In Canada, every 2 hours, someone becomes infected with HIV. The treatments for HIV/AIDS have improved but there is no cure. It is a constant battle to achieve and maintain health with ongoing daily challenges.

The Red Ribbon Campaign provides the the opportunity to reach and educate our citizens and to help PREVENT the spread of HIV.

As Vice Chair of the Board of AIDS Vancouver and as a person who is living with HIV since 1984, thank you for your support in our month long, Positive Change - Red Ribbon Campaign and for helping to change the face of HIV in Vancouver!

Thank you

AIDS Vancouver continues to respond to the ongoing changing and challenging health care environment of HIV/AIDS and is fully dedicated to grow and respond to meet the needs of the community we serve. AIDS Vancouver strives to keep our programming innovative and relevant.
