The Farha Foundation
wants to see you at
ÇA MARCHE 2011!

Aggressive objective of $400,000 set for Quebec's largest annual AIDS fundraising campaign

Montréal, Québec (August 25, 2011) - The Farha Foundation invites you to join the more than 5,000 anticipated walkers for the 19th edition of ÇA MARCHE 2011, Quebec's largest walk for the fight against AIDS, taking place in the streets of Montreal on Sunday, September 18, starting at 9 AM.

The goal for ÇA MARCHE 2011 is to raise $400,000 and those interested in participating can do so on their own or by joining/forming a team. The Farha Foundation encourages all participants to approach their employers and colleagues to walk with them.

"ÇA MARCHE 2011's advertising campaign is all about getting involved. It's about putting on your walking shoes and joining us in the fight against HIV/AIDS," stated Evelyn Farha, Honourary President of the Farha Foundation. "We know that 20,000 people are HIV+ in Quebec and that these numbers are growing across all age groups, all sexual orientations and genders. It is only through your active involvement that we can help those infected and support education/prevention initiatives to stop these numbers from growing."

The ÇA MARCHE 2011 campaign is currently at 37% of its objective or approximately $146,000. Spokespeople Couzin Vinny of Virgin Radio and Marie-Andrée Fallu of Rock Détende have graciously agreed to promote the campaign through a number of initiatives including distribution of ÇA MARCHE pamphlets during Virgin Radio's "Movies in the Park", social media, and on-air commentary. They will also form a team and participate in the walk.

Major sponsor, Bristol-Myers Squibb Canada, platinum sponsor, Gilead and gold sponsors: CTV, Cytronic, the City of Montreal, Merck, and TD Bank are also important contributors to this campaign. They are imperative in creating awareness and driving the very needed donations and support to ÇA MARCHE 2011.

Events and pre-walk fundraising initiatives leading up to ÇA MARCHE 2011 are planned and will be announced in the coming days. Currently, Santa Margherita is running a campaign with its Pinot Grigio, one of Canada's leading white wine. For every bottled purchased at the SAQ up until August 13, the Farha Foundation will receive a $0.50 donation.

About ÇA MARCHE

ÇA MARCHE ( camarche.ca ), one of the first Farha Foundation's event to emerge in 1993, is an annual walkathon of 7 kilometres, gathering thousands of persons aiming at raising funds and sensitizing the population to the HIV/AIDS cause.

To maximize awareness of the event, the Farha Foundation asks you to spread the word to as many people as possible. In doing so, you will contribute directly to helping those living with HIV/AIDS, a disease that currently infects as many as two people a day in Quebec. Bring your friends and family to inspire our community to support the cause. Sign up now at camarche.ca .
