On December 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m., please join us at the Bram and Bluma Appel Salon (Toronto Reference Library) to celebrate
the Canaadian HIV/AIDS Network and to honour the 2013 recipients of the
Awards for Action on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights - the Grandmothers Advocacy Network (Canadian recipient) and Alternatives-Cameroun (international recipient).
The Awards for Action were established in 2002 by the Legal Network and Human Rights Watch to highlight outstanding
contributions that have a direct impact - in particular work that directly benefits marginalized individuals and communities.
Alternatives-Cameroun is an
organization working for equality, tolerance, and respect for people who suffer from social exclusion in Cameroon. Its human rights
work is ever more crucial in the wake of the tragic murder of gay activist Eric Lembembe and escalating violence against LGBT
people in Cameroon.
The Grandmothers Advocacy Network (GRAN) is composed
of volunteer grandmothers and grand-others from across Canada. GRAN advocates in meaningful and strategic ways for the grandmothers
of Africa and the children in their care orphaned by AIDS.

The Awards for Action is also a benefit event for the Legal Network and will feature Svend Robinson as keynote speaker. Svend was elected to the House of Commons in Canada for seven consecutive elections, from 1979 to 2004.
A strong advocate of human rights, Svend coordinates parliamentary relations for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Timed in recognition of World AIDS Day, the Awards for Action will be an opportunity to pay tribute to those leading the movement for
health and human rights for all. Tickets are $75 and
include a reception with open bar and refreshments. Please come celebrate with us!

Annonce des lauréats des Prix de l'Action
Le 1er décembre 2013 à 19 heures, soyez des nôtres, au Salon Bram and Bluma Appel (Bibliothèque de référence de Toronto) pour
une célébration du Réseau juridique canadien VIH/sida et un hommage aux lauréats et lauréates des Prix de l'Action de 2013
contre le VIH/sida et pour les droits humains - le Mouvement de soutien des grands-mères (lauréat canadien) et Alternatives-Cameroun (lauréat international).
Les Prix de l'Action ont été instaurés en 2002 par le Réseau juridique et Human Rights Watch pour mettre en valeur des
contributions exceptionnelles qui ont un impact direct - en particulier pour le bien des communautés et d'individus marginalisés.
Alternatives-Cameroun est un organisme
qui ouvre pour l'égalité, la tolérance et le respect à l'égard des personnes affectées par l'exclusion sociale au Cameroun. Ses
efforts pour les droits humains sont encore plus cruciaux, depuis le meurtre tragique du militant gai Eric Lembembe et devant
la violence croissante à l'égard des personnes LGBT au Cameroun.
Le Mouvement de soutien des grands-mères, composé de
grands-mères et d'autres grands cours, à travers le Canada, plaide de façon éloquente et stratégique pour la cause des
grands-mères de l'Afrique et des enfants orphelins du sida dont elles s'occupent.

À la soirée des Prix de l'Action, qui est également un événement bénéfice du Réseau juridique, l'invité spécial qui prononcera le discours programme
sera M. Svend Robinson. Svend a été élu sept fois consécutives à la Chambre des communes du Canada, de 1979 à 2004.
Ardent défenseur des droits humains, il coordonne à présent les relations parlementaires au Fonds mondial de lutte contre le sida,
la tuberculose et le paludisme.
Coïncidant avec la Journée mondiale du sida, la célébration des Prix de l'Action est l'occasion par
excellence de rendre hommage à des figures de proue du mouvement pour la santé et les droits humains de toutes et
tous. Le coût des billets, 75 $, inclut une
