Queen of the Desert returns Wednesday, May 27 to benefit Desert AIDS Project
“Desert Icons” a-plenty supporting this D.A.P. benefit
PALM SPRINGS, CA, May 4, 2015 - With Ethylina Canne, Fan Favorite from last year’s inaugural Queen of the Desert event, and the seen-everywhere Bella da Ball as Mistresses
of Ceremonies, the Renaissance Palm Springs is sure to be rocking mid-week as the So-Cal lip sync competition returns on May 27 for its second year of fun and Drag Queen Fierceness.
Dottie DuBois and Maude Chapeau of Les Dames du Soleil, who have raised well over $1 million for primary and HIV-specialty care at Desert AIDS Project over many years, will open the show
before they take their places on the judging panel. Then, pageant choreographer and producer Steven Michael will give the audience a taste of what the show will be about, as all six of the
evening’s Queen of the Desert contestants perform an ensemble number.
Champagne Showers will also perform and show the contestants a little bit of the talent that won her last year’s crown. This year’s contestants include Crystal Champagne, Fabeyonce, Jayla D Foxx,
Jazmy Simone-Echelon, Miss Lola, and Melissa Stratman. During the evening each of them will perform two numbers, whether comedic, high-energy, or both … before they close the evening with a second
ensemble performance while the judges deliberate over which will be crowned the second Queen of the Desert.
Joining Dottie, Maude, and Steven on the judging panel will be Raymundo Baltazar of “Project Runway” fame and Steven Henke of the Desert Sun Media Group.
