ACAA presents
Looking Forward: HIV Hot Topics and New Research Conference

This June AIDS Calgary Awareness Association (ACAA) will be hosting a new conference titled Looking Forward: HIV Hot Topics and New Research. ACAA has invited several exciting guest speakers to present on current HIV issues, best practices and research at Looking Forward. Keynote speaker for the day will be Francisco Ibáñez-Carrasco, PhD, who received the Award of Excellence in HIV and Rehabilitation from the Canadian Working Group on HIV and Rehabilitation in 2010. Ibáñez-Carrasco is widely known for his research in HIV, and will be presenting on HIV and Aging. Conference speakers also include Dr. Ameeta Sing, Jonathan Glenn Betteridge and Dr. Hartmut B Krentz of the University of Calgary.

Other issues and hot topics that will be explored at Looking Forward include, rapid testing for both HIV and Syphilis, research from the Southern Alberta Clinic and the criminalization of HIV non-disclosure which will be followed by a panel discussion. The conference topics will focus on current laws and research specific to Alberta and Canada. Following the conference ACAA will also hold their Annual General Meeting where keynote speaker Ibáñez-Carrasco will open with a presentation of his personal experience on living with HIV. Looking Forward: HIV Hot Topics and New Research will be held on June 23rd, at Fort Calgary located at 750 - 9th Ave, SE, from 9:00am - 4:00pm, and the AGM to follow at 5:00pm until 7:00pm. Food and beverages will be provided throughout the day.
