United for Global Mental Health releases a technical communications toolkit to support the integration of mental health into HIV and tuberculosis (TB) programs ahead of World AIDS Day
The toolkit contains resources that support the need for mental health promotion, prevention, and treatment to be integrated at every stage of the HIV and TB service continuum in order to end the epidemics more quickly and cost-effectively.
From the Global Fund’s long experience fighting HIV and TB, we now know that mental health is inextricably entwined with the fight against these two diseases. People living with HIV and TB experience higher rates of depression and other common mental health conditions. This has been linked to reduced adherence to treatment leading to higher rates of HIV and TB deaths.
The toolkit contains:
- A fact sheet; highlighting the challenge we face and the return on investment as a result of integrating mental health into HIV and TB programs.
- A compilation of different case studies from across the globe to highlight the impact of integrating mental health into HIV and TB programs.
- Social media assets to amplify key messages from the factsheet.
