Window of Knowledge HIV/AIDS gathers scientific evidence
São Paulo, July 24, 2026 (BIREME/PAHO/WHO) – From July 26 to 30, Brazil will host the 26th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026), the world's leading conference dedicated to the global HIV response. Held in Rio de Janeiro, the event will bring together people living with HIV, researchers, health professionals, public health leaders, policymakers, civil society representatives, international organizations, and funders to discuss the challenges and priorities of the global response to the epidemic.
Under the theme "Rethink. Rebuild. Rise.", the conference takes place at a time of significant challenges to the sustainability of HIV programs, including the need to strengthen national responses based on evidence, innovation, equity, and international cooperation.
The program will feature leading global health authorities, including Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), and Dr. Jarbas Barbosa, Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), reaffirming the United Nations system's commitment to addressing HIV as a public health priority.
In this context, the HIV/AIDS Window of Knowledge, developed by BIREME/PAHO/WHO within the framework of the Virtual Health Library (VHL) that is coordinate in the Americas Region, serves as a strategic source of scientific and technical information to support decision-making, research, clinical practice, and public policy development.
Organized through an easy-to-navigate thematic interface, the Knowledge Showcase brings together content from VHL information sources, international organizations and access to the scientific literature and specialized publications on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, human rights, and other dimensions of the HIV/AIDS response.
The resource is intended for health professionals, researchers, managers, students, and anyone interested in accessing reliable and up-to-date information on one of the world's major public health challenges.
