Myron Cohen, MD, Yeargan-Bate Eminent Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and the UNC School of Medicine, is among three UNC-Chapel Hill faculty members who recieved this year’s Faculty Awards for Global Excellence from UNC Global. Other winners included Peter Coclanis, PhD, and Audra Rankin, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, FAAN.

UNC Global Affairs invites nominations from faculty, staff and students to recognize faculty members whose contributions advance the University’s “unwavering commitment to excellence as one of the world’s great research universities.”

In April, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Magnus Egerstedt, Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Chief Global Officer Barbara Stephenson and Associate Provost for Global Affairs Heather Ward presented the awards during a reception for awardees, their families, and other Carolina faculty, staff and alumni.

“With lux, libertas — light and liberty — as its founding principles, the University has charted a bold course of leading change to improve society and to help solve the world’s greatest problems,” Stephenson said. “At this great research university, we are competitive; committed to excellence. These three awardees have set quite the example for us.”
