The response of Quebec’s HIV / AIDS community to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030
Montreal, Novermber 30, 2021 —The community community in the fight against AIDS in Quebec is making public its response to end AIDS by 2030 in Quebec.
Coordinated by the Coalition of Quebec Community Organizations to Fight AIDS (COCQ-SIDA), this response puts forward five priority areas of work so that Qubec achieves, by 2025, the new UNAIDS objectives? ; objectives that need to be achieved for the epidemic to become a thing of the past by 2030.
Axes of the Quebec community response to HIV / AIDS:
- Improve access to testing for HIV and all STBBIs ?;
- Support adherence to treatment for HIV and all STBBIs ?;
- Continue efforts to reduce risks and harm through the deployment of services adapted to the needs of key people and populations;
- Act on the social determinants of health (eg: access to housing, poverty, etc.) by creating favorable environments;
- Develop intersectoral partnerships.
These five areas of work and their respective fields of action are the foundations on which COCQ-SIDA and its member organizations will develop their action plan for the next five years.
The Qubcoise community response to HIV / AIDS will therefore rely on consultation and mobilization to ensure that Quebec and Canada step up their efforts in the fight against AIDS and HIV. All the tools to end this epidemic exist. All that’s missing is the political will. However, when this desire is present, the results are always convincing. Our governments have demonstrated this through their management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the Response, the HIV / AIDS community sector is strengthening its role as a key player in the fight against HIV / AIDS in Qubec and showing that it is ready to work together – supported by adequate resources – with the various levels of government. so that by 2030, the epidemic is totally under control.
Is the Quebec government ready to rekindle the torch, invest time and money to make Quebec a world leader in the fight against HIV for the next five years? Is the Canadian government ready to invest more to support its intensification of the fight against HIV? Joining the Qubcoise community response to HIV / AIDS, wouldn’t that be a good way to achieve this? An approach to be considered in the context where Montreal will host the international conference on AIDS in July 2022.
With regard to COCQ-SIDA: COCQ-SIDA, a group of community organizations in the fight against HIV / AIDS in Quebec, creates, supports and integrates community action in the fight against HIV / AIDS in Quebec. It unites people, policies and actions and resources that respond to issues that affect people living with HIV and all populations severely affected by the epidemic. COCQ-SIDA is one of the four founding members of Coalition PLUS.
About COCQ-SIDA: A group of community organizations in the fight against HIV / AIDS, COCQ-SIDA encourages, supports and consolidates community action in the fight against HIV / AIDS in Quebec. It unites people, unites the approaches, actions and resources involved in responding to the challenges that affect people living with HIV and all populations severely affected by the epidemic. La riposte du milieu communautaire VIH/sida du Québec pour
mettre fin à l’épidémie de sida d’ici 2030
Montréal, le 30 novembre 2021 —– Le milieu communautaire québécois de lutte contre le sida rend publique sa riposte pour mettre fin au sida, d’ici 2030, sur le territoire québécois.
Coordonnée par la Coalition des organismes communautaires québécois de lutte contre le sida (COCQSIDA), cette riposte met de l’avant cinq axes de travail prioritaires pour que le Québec atteigne, d’ici 2025, les nouveaux objectifs de l’ONUSIDA ; objectifs devant être réalisés pour que l’épidémie devienne chose du passé à l’horizon 2030.
Axes de la Riposte communautaire québécoise au VIH/sida :
- Améliorer l’accès au dépistage du VIH et de toutes les ITSS ;
- Soutenir l’adhésion au traitement du VIH et de toutes les ITSS ;?;
- Poursuivre les efforts en réduction des risques et des méfaits par le déploiement de services adaptés aux besoins des personnes et des populations clés ;
- Agir sur les déterminants sociaux de la santé (ex. : accès au logement, pauvreté, etc.) en créant des environnements favorables ;
- Développer des partenariats intersectoriels.
Ces cinq axes de travail et leurs champs d’action respectifs sont les fondements sur lesquels la COCQSIDA et ses organismes-membres développeront leur plan d’action pour les cinq prochaines années.
La Riposte communautaire québécoise au VIH/sida va donc s’appuyer sur la concertation et la mobilisation pour faire en sorte que le Québec et le Canada accentuent leurs efforts dans la lutte contre le sida et le VIH. Tous les outils pour mettre fin à cette épidémie existent. Il ne manque que la volonté politique. Or, lorsque cette volonté est présente, les résultats sont toujours probants. Nos gouvernements l’ont démontré par leur gestion de la pandémie de COVID-19.
Avec la Riposte, le milieu communautaire VIH/sida vient renforcer son rôle d’acteur clé dans la lutte contre le VIH/sida au Québec et montrer qu’il est prêt à travailler de concert – appuyé par des ressources adéquates – avec les divers paliers gouvernementaux pour qu’à l’horizon 2030, l’épidémie soit totalement contrôlée.

Est-ce que le gouvernement québécois est prêt à rallumer le flambeau, à réinvestir temps et argent pour faire du Québec un leader mondial dans la lutte contre le VIH pour les cinq prochaines années ? Est-ce que le gouvernement canadien est prêt à investir davantage pour soutenir son « intensification » de la lutte contre le VIH ? S’associer à la Riposte communautaire québécoise au VIH/sida, ne serait-ce pas un bon moyen pour y parvenir ? Une approche à considérer dans le contexte où Montréal accueillera, en juillet 2022, la conférence internationale sur le sida.
À propos de COCQ-SIDA : Regroupement d’organismes communautaires québécois de lutte contre le VIH/sida, la COCQ-SIDA suscite, soutient et consolide l’action communautaire face à la lutte contre le VIH/sida sur le territoire québécois.
